Day 1

LONDON OVERVIEW - TOWER - TOWER BRIDGE

An overview of LONDON highlights the main areas including Buckingham Palace, The Thames, St. Paul’s and The City. The TOWER OF LONDON, is the 1,000 year old fortress which has been used as a Royal Palace, a prison and a zoo. Crown Jewels and many historic exhibits are on view. It was by TOWER BRIDGE that Harry travels down the Thames by broomstick in the Order of the Phoenix.

Day 2

EYE - DIAGON ALLEY - PLATFORM 9 3/4 - GRINGOTT'S

LONDON EYE, reached by passing BIG BEN. You get a superb view of the route taken by Harry on his broomstick along the RIVER THAMES. DIAGON ALLEY, filmed in Leadenhall Market, includes the entrance to The LEAKY CAULDRON. The starting point for the Hogwarts Express, PLATFORM 9 ¾ is at King’s Cross. Finally, Australia House, which was transformed into GRINGOTTS BANK.

Day 3

WB STUDIO TOUR - LONDON ZOO

At Warner Brothers Studios we will take part in ‘THE MAKING OF HARRY POTTER TOUR’. We pass No.9 Heathgate, the house which appears as the home of Hermione and walk up the street towards St. Jude’s Church as Hermione does. LONDON ZOO where Harry discovered that he could speak to snakes. In reptile House Harry makes the safety Glass disappear, setting free the Burmese Python.

Day 4

LACOCK - GLOUCESTER CATHEDRAL - COTSWOLDS

The C13th village of LACOCK has been the location for Harry Potter and Pride and Prejudice. The cloisters under the old abbey became the classroom for Professor Quirrell’s Defense of the Dark Arts. Horace Slughorn’s house is also here. The Norman Cathedral at GLOUCESTER appears in 3 of the Harry Potter movies. We travel through the scenic COTSWOLDS villages to stay the night.

Day 5

LAKE DISTRICT - BEATRIX POTTER

Travelling to The LAKE DISTRICT, a World Heritage Site with dramatic scenery of mountains and lakes. We take the Ullswater steam boat before visiting the idyllic village of Grasmere where William Wordsworth lived and wrote. Finally, we wind along narrow roads to BEATRIX POTTER GALLERY. In a lovely village it displays original paintings and drawings of characters such as Peter Rabbit.

Day 6

EDINBURGH - CASTLE - ST GILES - HOLYROODHOUSE

On arriving in EDINBURGH we undertake a tour of the main attractions, beginning at the magnificent CASTLE and then walk down the ROYAL MILE to the incredible ST GILES CATHEDRAL. Lunch is the ELEPHANT HOUSE Café, where Harry Potter was created by J.K. Rowling. Then, continuing down the Royal Mile to the PALACE OF HOLYROODHOUSE, the Queen’s official residence in Edinburgh.

Day 7

HADRIAN'S WALL - ALNWICK CASTLE

Through Northumberland National Park to HADRIAN’S WALL and Housesteads with some magnificent views of the countryside. Built by the Romans in AD122, the wall is a World Heritage Site. ALNWICK CASTLE is often called ‘The Windsor of the North’. The Lion Arch was the entrance to HOGWARTS and it is where Harry’s first flying lesson takes place. Broomstick lessons are held in the grounds.

Day 8

DURHAM CATHEDRAL - HOGSMEADE

DURHAM CATHEDRAL, a magnificent place, doubles for the views of Hogwarts. The Chapter House was Professor Donegal’s classroom. Quidditch practice was filmed in the cloisters and it was here that Harry regurgitated slugs. On the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, Goathland station became HOGSMEADE station and the station shop became the ‘Prefects Room’ and also the ‘Wizard’s Room’.

Day 9

YORK MINSTER - HARDWICK HALL

YORK is medieval, built on a Roman city dating from AD71. You explore the city walls and the fascinating interwoven streets of the city centre. York MINSTER is an extravagant Gothic cathedral and the largest in Northern Europe. It took 250 years to complete. HARDWICK HALL is one of the finest Tudor mansions. It doubles as Malfoy Manor in the opening sequence of The Deathly Hallows Part I.

Day 10

BURGHLEY HOUSE - CAMBRIDGE

BURGHLEY HOUSE was built by William Cecil, the chancellor to Elizabeth I. In a lovely deer park, it was built in 1555 with the magnificent painted staircase and fine art. At CAMBRIDGE, a short walk will guide you through the colleges to visit King’s College, founded by Henry VI. With fine fan-vaulted ceiling it is supported by 22 buttresses and the stained glass windows date from the C16th

HOGART'S EXPRESS

About 3 hours drive from Edinburgh is the Jacobite Steam Railway. This is one of the great railway journeys in the World. The train was the HOGWARTS EXPRESS in the movies. Starting at the foot of Britain’s highest peak, this 84 mile journey takes all day and passes some of Scotland’s stunning scenery.
