Itinerary

Day 1: Walmer - Sissinghurst - Great Dixter
WALMER CASTLE GARDEN was once the home of Winston Churchill and the Duke of Wellington. The gardens have an outstanding historical interest including the Queen Mother’s Gardens. Arguably, the best C20th garden is SISSINGHURST CASTLE. Created around the remains of an Elizabethan mansion by Vita Sackville West, it forms a series of enclosed compartments and outstanding design. Finally, GREAT DIXTER is the pioneering garden of Christopher Lloyd, famed for his experimental planting schemes. Carpets of wildflower meadow, borders and the exuberant exotic garden.

Day 2: Marle Place - Scotney - Sheffield Park
MARLE PLACE GARDEN is privately owned. Based on arts and crafts design, there are 10 acres of formal planting including walled garden, terrace and ornamental ponds. Within the greenhouse is an impressive ochid collectoin. SCOTNEY CASTLE is a picturesque landscape garden laid out in the 1840s. Stunning Azaleas and Rhodedendrons drape a C14th ruined castle. SHEFFIELD PARK GARDEN is an outstanding landscape garden which offers different vistas depending on the time of year. Laid out by Humphry Repton and Capability Brown, the 120 acres have many rare specimens.

Day 3: Nymans - Wakehurst - Emmetts
NYMANS sits on in the beautiful Weald countryside. Fountains, flowering trees, sunken gardens and walled garden make this a must see. WAKEHURST PLACE is country home of the Royal Botanic Gardens of Kew. As an internationally significant botanic garden, there are plants from throughout the world, carefully planted in a secluded valley. Included is Kew's Millenniun Seed Bank with 10% of the world's seeds. With the highest tree top in Kent, EMMETTS GARDEN is a 5 acre hillside paradise with a fine collection of flowering shrubs and an extensive rose garden.
