Day 1: Burghley - Stamford - Haddon Hall
Having meet your driver / guide, we travel to the dramatic BURGHLEY HOUSE, used as Rosing Park. Built by Elizabeth I Chancellor, William Cecil, the lavish interior includes the famous ‘Hell Staircase’ painted by Verrio and a deer park by Capability Brown. From here we lunch in the delightful town of STAMFORD, used as Meryton in the 2005 movie. We then travel to Stanage Edge, used as a backdrop in Pride and Prejudice, with panoramic views over the Peak District National Park. Finally, we visit 14th century HADDON HALL, which featured as The Lambton Inn, before retiring to your hotel.

Day 2: Chatsworth - Lyme Park - Sudbury
CHATSWORTH HOUSE is the incredible home of the Dukes of Devonshire and reputed to be Austen’s vision of Pemberley when she visited the nearby town of Bakewell. It is one of Britain’s most impressive stately homes and was used in the 2005 movie. The interiors of the state rooms are exquisite, with a fine collection of art. LYME PARK was the first view of Pemberley shot across from the lake in the BBC production and is instantly recognisable. Finally, SUDBURY HALL, where many of the interior filming of Pemberley occurred including The Grand Staircase and the library where Darcy paid off Wickham.

Day 3: Stratford - Cotswolds - Dyrham Park
The day begins in Shakespeare’s STRATFORD-UPON-AVON, where we can explore either his birthplace or ANNE HATHAWAY'S idyllic thatched cottage. Alternatively, you may visit LORD LEYCESTER HOSPITAL in Warwick, used as the location for the London scenes in Pride and Prejudice. From here, we travel the length of the COTSWOLD Hills, passing through beautiful unspoilt villages such as Chipping Campden, Stow on the Wold and Lower Slaughter. Before arriving for evening in Bath we stop at DYRHAM PARK, a lovely small stately home used in classic films such as ‘Remains of the Day’.

Day 4: Bath - Roman Baths - Jane Austen Centre
A walking tour, this morning to uncover the World Heritage city of the wonderful Georgian BATH. Jane Austen wrote Persuasion and Northanger Abbey whilst staying here. You have the opportunity to visit the incredible ROMAN BATHS, discovered in 1870 and the huge ornate Abbey, built in 1499 by Bishop Oliver King, who is said to have received the design for the new Abbey from God in a dream. The JANE AUSTEN CENTRE which tells the story of Jane’s 6 years in Bath and contains a wide variety of exhibits including period costume. You will then have some free time to enjoy the city.

Day 5: Lacock - Stonehenge - Winchester
The C13th unspoilt village of LACOCK has a grand Abbey owned by the National Trust. Used in Harry Potter and Cranford, it was the street scenes of Meryton in the 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice. The Red Lion served as Meryton’s Assembly Rooms and the High Street was where the Bennett girls watched the soldiers. Passing STONEHENGE, a World Heritage Site and one of the ancient wonders of the world, before visiting WINCHESTER, capital of England under Alfred the Great and the final resting place of Jane Austen. Here we see her grave and King Arthur’s ROUND TABLE in the Great Hall.

Day 6: Steventon - Chawton - Basildon Park
CHAWTON village is a haven for Jane Austen fans, with her childhood home, now a museum. The church contains the graves of her mother and sister and is situated next to the magnificent manor house owned by her brother. Jane was born in the tiny village of STEVENTON. You see the church where her father preached and the vicarage where she lived. Finally, BASILDON PARK, an 18th Century classical house set in 400 acres of park. This was Netherfield Park, Mr Bingley’s country residence and several rooms were used, including the octagonal drawing room, the dining room and the ballroom.
