Day 1: Walmer - Sissinghurst - Great Dixter
KENT is the Garden of England with many fantastic gardens. WALMER CASTLE GARDEN was once the home of Winston Churchill and the Duke of Wellington. The gardens have an outstanding historical interest including the Queen Mother’s Gardens. One of the best mid C20th gardens is SISSINGHURST CASTLE. Created around the remains of an Elizabethan mansion by Vita Sackville West, it forms a series of enclosed compartments and outstanding design. Finally, GREAT DIXTER to the pioneering C20th garden of Christopher Lloyd, famed for his carpets of wildflowers and exuberant exotic garden.

Day 2: Sheffield - Upton Grey - Queen Eleanor's
SHEFFIELD PARK GARDEN is magnificent informal landscape garden laid out by Capability Brown in the C18th. 265 acres of historic parkland are set around 4 lakes and offer something at all times of year. Gertrude Jekyll pioneering work at the end of the C19th is best shown in the restoration project at UPTON GREY. Actually designed in 1908 the garden is filled with the flowers and roses of the time. At Winchester, behind the Great Hall, QUEEN ELEANOR'S GARDEN is one of the oldest gardens in the World. Using the plants and herbs of the C13th and including the legendary Glastonbury Thorn.

Day 3: Stourhead - Iford Manor - Abbey House
STOURHEAD is a superb landscape garden created by C18th banker, Henry Hoare. Arguably, the best garden of it’s type and set around a huge central lake, the path moves through magnificent woodland and exotic trees, offering different vistas of the classic temples. In the C20th, Harold Peto was attracted by the classic Italian gardens and at IFORD MANOR he created a 2.5 acre recreation on the side of a steep hill. Driving through the COTSWOLDS to the wonderful ABBEY HOUSE GARDEN. Blended into the surroundings of an historic medieval Abbey, the garden is famed for it’s collection of roses.
