Profile
When the Eden Project opened it's doors in 2000, the sheer brilliance of the gardens on show inspired many visitors to see the giant greenhouses. The influx of people led to many others gardens getting a new lease of life and there are now 60 gardens to visit in Cornwall. We have picked the best here togther with some outstanding gardens on the route mixed with the stunning coastal scenery.

Day 1: Lanhydrock - Eden Project
An early start today to make the journey to Cornwall and our first stop, LANHYDROCK is one of the great country houses of England. Owned by the Robartes family, the house was largely rebuilt after a fire in the C19th and it is set in 1000 arcres of parkland and gardens. The gardens are packed with dazzling bedding and many rhododendrons and magnolias. A few miles away is The EDEN PROJECT. Started by Tim Smit as a Millennium project and built in a disused claypit, it is the home of plants from all over the globe housed in the biggest greenhouses in the world - the revolutionary glass biomes.

Day 2: Lost Gardens of Heligan - Trelissick
Tim Smit’s first garden project was the LOST GARDENS OF HELIGAN. Hidden and overgrown since the earliest part of the C20th the gardens offer a fascinating insight into an Edwardian estate with long carriage drives, an exotic kitchen garden and unusual plants and the amazing swamp. Continuing south towards we stop at TOLVERNE for lunch. This tiny cafe overlooks the RIVER FAL and was an embarkation point for the Normandy landing. Taking the King Harry Ferry across the River Fal to TRELISSICKGardens. Here, wonderful trees planted 200 years ago are interspersed with modern and evolving ideas.

Day 3: St Micheal's - Glendurgan - Land's End
Travelling towards LAND'S END, there are a number of tropical gardens. GLENDURGAN is full of jungle-like flowers bordering on the idyllic Helford valley. Penzance and Mounts Bay is dominated by ST MICHEAL'S MOUNT. Near Land’s End is the MINACK. This is an outdoor theatre with magnificent views over the sea all set in a tropical garden. Travelling back, our final garden of the day is TRENGWAINTON. This is a 25 acre garden with a restored kitchen garden, vibrant rhododendrons and lush banana plants. There are spectacular views over Mounts Bay.

Day 4: RHS Rosemoor - Stourhead
Heading north along the spectacular Cornish coast, our first stop today is the Royal Horticultural Society’s ROSEMOOR. Set deep in the Devon countryside, the garden offers a vast range of plants and extensive herbaceous border. The most popular feature is the extensive rose garden and the recently added sub-tropical plantings. STOURHEAD a superb landscape garden created by Henry Hoare an eminent C18th banker. Arguably, the best landscape garden and set around a huge central lake, the paths moves through magnificent woodland and exotic trees, offering different vistas of the classic temples.
